The Humane Table was created to celebrate food from animals that have been ethically raised according to standards that are based in science and best practices. The Humane Table concept is founded on the premise that safe and wholesome meat, poultry, dairy and eggs can be provided by animals raised humanely according to standards based on the Five Freedoms of Animal Welfare.
The Five Freedoms espouse that an animal be healthy, comfortable, well nourished, safe, able to express normal behavior, and not be suffering from unpleasant states such as pain, fear and distress. American Humane Association (AHA) created its farm animal welfare standards with animal science professionals, veterinarians, and practitioners.
